If you’re tired of every single smash burger being the exact same thing, you’ve definitely come to the right place. Although amazingly delicious, standard smash burgers can get a little stale after a while. I’m here to hopefully shake things up a little. Definitely give these a try next time you’re in the mood for a deliciously crispy and flavorful bacon cheeseburger. This can easily be made into a double if you're feeling frisky.
Ingredients Per Burger
3oz 80/20 ground chuck
1 strip of bacon
1 slice of american cheese
Salt, pepper, and bun of your choosing
Any toppings you like, just make sure they’re thinly sliced
Take your strips of bacon and place them in a pot of simmering water for 3-5 minutes. While this is happening, take some time to prep any burger toppings you like. Remove your bacon from the water and finely mince it. In my testing, large chunks of bacon would fall off the patty, so you really do want this fine.
Lay a piece of cling film down and top with the minced bacon in a thin layer. Add your ground beef to the top of the bacon and pull all 4 corners of the plastic wrap up towards you. Spin the whole package a couple of times to form a nice tight ball.
Toast your buns to your liking, I'm personally a fan of In-N-Outs dark crunchy buns, so that's what I aim for. Get your pan up to high heat (just starting to smoke) and drop in your burger, bacon side down. Season the top of the burger with salt and smash the burger into the pan with a heavy pot or large spatula. Check the crust after a minute and flip once browned and crunchy. Top it with a slice of american cheese immediately so it melts. The second side will be done almost immediately, so it's ready once the cheese melts. Put this on your buns and top with any condiments and toppings!
